Betsy Robeson

Former KIEDA

Prior to her time at UNC Kenan-Flagler School of Business, Betsy spent seven years in Washington, DC.  Betsy worked in the government, non-profit, and private sectors during this time to gain a cross-section of experience and perspectives in preparation for a career move into economic development.  As a KIEDA, Betsy was focused on economic development projects in the eastern part of the state.  She was instrumental in launching a business retention and expansion initiative with the Carolinas Gateway Partnership in Rocky Mount, NC and in developing a business plan for a homeless shelter in Kinston, NC.  Betsy was also a key member of the Kenan Institute grant-writing team who won a five-year EDA University Center grant.  After graduating from the MBA program in May 2012, Betsy served as an economic development analyst for the office of NC Governor Pat McCrory.  Betsy is currently taking time off from her career to raise her 6-month old daughter, Molly.  She continues to stay involved in Eastern NC where she is stationed with her husband, a U.S. Marine.
