SmartUp working with Lowcountry Aviation in Walterboro, SC.

Lowcountry Aviation provides aircraft maintenance and repair, charter services and manufactures composite light aircraft at Colleton County’s Lowcountry Regional Airport in Walterboro, SC. Former Boeing South Carolina Vice President and entrepreneur Marco Cavazzoni started the company in 2017 and is passionate about economic development in Walterboro. The town is a 45-minute drive from North Charleston, SC and has a population of approximately 6,000. Lowcountry Aviation is participating in NCGrowth’s SmartUp program which aims to transform communities by supporting businesses committed to local hiring. SmartUp selects a cohort of up to 10 growing companies in 3 high potential communities, including the Elizabeth City and North Charleston Regions. In addition to providing consulting services for 2 years, the program hosts networking events and workshops in coordination with local government and other resource providers to further strengthen the entire business community. NCGrowth Analyst and UNC Kenan-Flagler MBA student Robert Mandel is working with SmartUp Program Manager Kellye Whitaker and Lowcountry Aviation Founder/CEO Marco Cavazzoni to develop a strategic plan as the company expands their business.
